Description
The spore has the shape of a console or shelf with a diameter of 3-12 (15) cm, 0.4-4 cm thick and up to 10 cm deep, it grows on wood. The young have a pale gray to yellowish surface, then an ocher, cinnamon, and later reddish brown, and with age it becomes uniformly dark red to dark reddish brown and has a white edge. It has many rings on the surface in the same color shades, but darker towards the center. The sporangium is made of holes that are gray to yellowish white and various shapes, the tubes are twisted and reddish in cross section, 1-2 mm wide. It grows on dead or dying deciduous wood, all year.
