Description

It grows 30 to 60 cm high. The stem is rough in the lath, the lower leaf sheaths are purple, the leaf cuticle is brown. Inflorescence in one-sided spikelet, one spike on shorter twigs. It grows in beech, oak and hornbeam forests, rarely in higher altitudes.
