Description
Shoots are 20 to 50 cm long, erect or creeping. The species is highly variable according to habitats; in two subspecies it grows from the lowlands to the subalpine belt. On moist soil. It is spread by waterfowl and also reproduces asexually. It is the second most common representative of buttercups in garden ponds. The mode of growth and shape of the leaves depends on the amount of water. In a pond where there is enough of this, the leaves will be narrow and smaller, and the plant will be lower and creeping. It is toxic.
