Description

Bacteria enter and inhabit host tissues through wounds or natural openings. As the bacterial population increases, they reappear on the surface and are transmitted primarily by wind, rain, or seeds. A characteristic of Xanthomonas sp. is an infected hornbeam trunk with an area of hypertrophic trunk growth.
