The Common Raven

Features

The common raven is one of the smartest animals. It is the biggest European bird from the singer family and it is also a scavenger.

Species Bird
Living space Conifer forest, Deciduous forest, Field
Size 56 -78 cm
Weight 0.69 - 2 kg

Description

Their bodies are black and shine metallically in bright light. Their strong beaks and legs are also black. The males and females cannot be distinguished by body color. Over the course of the year, they can be distinguished from other ravens by size, the distinctly scattered feathers at the ends of their wings, and by their wedge-shaped tails. The wingspan of adult birds ranges from 100 to 150 cm. When choosing a habitat, the common raven is a generalist. They can live anywhere, from the sea to the areas above forest boundaries. More rarely, they appear in large, dense forests and settlements. A breeding site is one of the factors that significantly limits their ravenous prevalence.
