Features

The wingspan is 40 to 50 mm. It has bristly legs and therefore cannot be confused with other small representatives of dragonflies.

Description

It is found in stagnant and slow-flowing waters rich in vegetation. It is relatively common and less common in northern Central Europe. After mating, the male with the buttocks continues to hold the female by the head and both go in tandem to lay eggs. The female lays eggs in plant tissue on the water surface.
