Description
Swans are white water birds similar to geese. It is likely that each and every one of us can recognize a mute swan. They are characterized by their orange bills. The young ones are greyish in color and it was this fact that inspired the fairy tale, The Ugly Duckling. An adult swan's wingspan can measure up to 2.5 m.
Swans find their food (aquatic plants at the bottom of the rivers and lakes) by dunking the fron parts of their bodies under the water with elongated necks, while the rear part of the body sticks up out of the water.
