Description
It lives mainly on less overgrown land; almost everywhere common. The queen can design her nest as early as mid-March below or above ground. Already in April, the first workers hatch, who are rapidly building new breeding chambers and taking care of many new workers. From June onwards, fully developed and capable of reproduction females hatch, which mate with simultaneously hatched males. They soon find a suitable place to spend the winter, and the following year each female conceives her own family.
