Description
This small spotted crake was named for the white spots on their necks, chests, and upper halves of their bodies. The feathers of their undertails are dirty white. Spotted crakes are slightly smaller than water rails, from which they can be readily distinguished by their short straight bills, which are yellow with a red base. They have green legs with long toes, and a short tail which is buff underneath. The species also has a short, yellow orange beak and olive green legs.
