Description
We recognize it by its elongated form, long head, and beak. The tops of their heads are blue-gray with orange drapes below and distinctive black eye stripes. Their tails are short and flat, and their wings of gray are rounded. The males, females and their young are very similar looking to one another. Adult birds have a wingspan of 16 to 18 cm.
On the average spring day, these birds spend most of their time searching for food, resting and singing. They produce a variety of sounds over the course of the year as they can make shrill sirrrr sounds, tsi-si-si sounds and thin tsit calls.
