Description
The gray heron has long yellow legs and long and a pointed yellowish beak. Their feathers are greyish on the surface and whitish underneath and their heads are white with a black line.
They feed on fish and frogs, including snakes and birds. They most often nest in inaccessible colonies amongst reeds or in the water amongst the willows as well as in forest tree trunks. They most like to build their nests, which is often reused year after year, in the crowns of tall trees near lakes or rivers or wherever they feel safe from predators. This is why they nest amongst impenetrable reeds or on inaccessible rock cliffs.
Their wing span ranges from 155 to 172 cm in width.
