Features

The black redstart is recognisable by the striking black or brown colour of the body, which contrasts with its reddish-white tail. It is widely spread in Slovenia and is considered a frequent nesting bird and a year-round species.

Description

The black redstart is a bird that can be found in many living spaces. It is widespread in the valleys, where it resides especially in the vicinity of human settlements, as well as in high mountains, where it is found near the cliffs and rocky walls. Its nests are arranged in the cracks of rocks, hollow bricks, support beams, masonry houses and the like.
